Meet the handsome Bogart!
Bogart had a rough start to life, as his owner sprayed pesticide into his eye in Alexandria, Egypt. Even after they did this to him, they refused to treat him and abandoned him at a boarding facility.
Bogart was diagnosed with a perforated corneal ulcer as a result of the trauma, infection and lack of treatment. At the end of January 2023, Bogart underwent a conjunctival flap surgery on his eye which involved suturing his third eyelid that is located under the lower eyelid, to the inside of the upper eyelid, creating a cover for the cornea. As you can see his eye is healing well and with continued eye drops it will heal fully and the only reason why we would need to remove it completely would be for cosmetic purposes, but we don't want to put him through anything unnecessary at this stage.
In addition to his eye surgery, he was diagnosed with Babesia and was placed on a course of antibiotics. At the end of February, we had more blood work done and thankfully it showed him clear of the blood parasite, so he was able to get neutered and have his vaccinations.
According to the staff at the boarding facility he is a very well-balanced dog that gets on well with any dog or person. He is just a happy dog who enjoys life and will make such a wonderful family member.
Bogart can live in a condo/ apartment or a detached home, as he is low-medium energy, small and is very quiet/ does not bark according to the shelter staff. We are unable to say if Bogart is house trained or crate trained. It is to be expected that he will need work in those areas when transitioning to his new home.
